Darker is an electroacoustic composition constructed as a patchwork of sound excerpts originally created for dance and theater performances. Brought together to form a new sonic environment, these fragments are dissociated from their original context and allowed to interact freely, establishing new relationships based on texture, timbre, density, and spatial behavior. This recontextualization generates a distinct musical atmosphere that forms the foundation of the piece.
One central layer consists of pitched-down recordings of stones, extended with long reverberation and blended with low wind sounds. This creates a dark, expansive ambience—a large and empty space. Within this environment, higher, animated granular objects appear, adding movement and contrast to the dense sonic backdrop.
The title Darker refers to this underlying atmosphere and its spatial depth. The piece invites listeners into an immersive sound world where contrasting textures and energies coexist, unfolding through transformation and layered presence.
