Roeland Luyten (b. 1977, Leuven) is a Belgian composer specializing in electroacoustic music. He first encountered electroacoustic sound through science-fiction and horror films he watched as a child. At the age of eight, he began studying flute at the music academy in Leuven. During secondary school he taught himself electric guitar and experimented with effects pedals. While studying classical flute at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, he discovered his true passion in the electroacoustic composition studio under the guidance of Joris De Laet.

Specializing in texture, granularity and spatial audio in multichannel configurations, he approaches sound as a malleable material. In addition to his autonomous compositions, Roeland creates sound design for the performing arts, particularly theatre and dance, in collaboration with companies such as Carte Blanche (NO), fieldworks (BE/NO) and Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. His work integrates composition, sound design and technical realization in dialogue with choreography and scenography.

His music is performed internationally and has been awarded in competitions including Destellos, Métamorphoses, Città di Udine and Pierre Schaeffer, and selected for festivals such as MA/IN and BEAST FEaST. Roeland is a member of the Belgian Federation for Electroacoustic Music (BeFEM).
