Roeland Luyten (né à Louvain, Belgique, en 1977) est un compositeur de musique électro-acoustique. Fasciné par les films de science-fiction et d’horreur dès son plus jeune âge, il a commencé à explorer le monde des sons électroacoustiques. À l’âge de 8 ans, il a commencé à étudier la théorie musicale et la flûte à l’Académie de Musique de Louvain. Pendant ses études secondaires, il a appris la guitare électrique et les pédales d’effets, jouant dans un groupe avec des amis. Plus tard, il a décidé d’étudier la musique classique et la flûte au Conservatoire Royal d’Anvers. C’est là qu’il a découvert sa véritable passion pour la composition de musique électroacoustique dans le studio de Joris De Laet. Depuis, Roeland travaille en tant que compositeur-musicien, ingénieur du son et technicien plateau pour diverses productions théâtrales et de danse, en Belgique et à l’étranger. Ses œuvres ont été primées et jouées dans le monde entier.

2012: Nominated on the “5th International Competition of Electroacoustic Composition and Visual-music” of the Foundation Destellos in Buenos Aeres, Argentinië for his work “INERT”.
2010: Finalist at the “8th International competition for Composers “Città di Udine” – Tenth Edition (2014) – TEM” in Italy for the work “Hooks”.
2010: Special mention at the “6th Biennial Acousmatic Composition Competition Métamorphoses 2014” of Musiques & Recherches for the piece “Hooks”.
2005: Third prize at the “5th International Computer Music Competition, Pierre Schaeffer 2005” in Italy for the piece “Decyclage”.
2005: Composition commission by the Flemish Community provided by Logos Foundation in Ghent.
2004: Nomination in the category of multimedia on the “31ème Concours International de Musique et d’Art Sonore Electroacoustique” at Bourges (France) for the music of the dance performance “roest”, a production of VZW Kwaadbloed.
